The Dreame L40 Ultra Gen 2 is the kind of robot vacuum that makes you wonder why anyone still sweeps. With 25,000Pa of suction, self-emptying and full mop care from the dock, it attacks carpets, hard floors and daily chaos on its own schedule. For a serious upgrade from a first robot, it is one of the most capable machines at its price.
At a glance
- 25,000Pa suction – one of the strongest figures in its class
- Self-emptying dock that also washes, dries and fills the mop
- Combines vacuuming and mopping so hard floors get both in one routine
- Precision lidar navigation with room mapping and app scheduling
- Handles pet hair, litter and everyday debris without manual passes
- Backed by a brand that has led the bang-for-buck robot category
What stands out
The 25,000Pa suction separates it from the pack. Carpets that defeated other robots come up clean in a single pass, and pet hair disappears from rugs rather than being pushed around. That raw power is exactly what keeps a robot vacuum from becoming a dust-distributor.
Mop care is unusually complete. The dock washes the mop cloth, dries it so nothing sours, and refills the tank between sessions – the closest thing to a hands-off hard-floor routine we have seen. You empty a dusty bag and a dirty water tank occasionally, and that is about all.
Things to weigh
- Premium price – this is an investment, not an impulse buy.
- Dock consumables (bags, filters) add to running cost over the year.
- Furniture clutter and cables still need a quick pre-clean pass.
Who is this for
Households ready to hand cleaning to a machine: pet owners, busy families, and anyone who has outgrown a basic robot. If you already know a robot’s value and now want one that is genuinely strong and low-maintenance, this is the tier to buy.
Final verdict
The Dreame L40 Ultra Gen 2 delivers flagship power and genuinely self-sufficient dock. It cleans carpets like a full-size vacuum, takes care of its own mop, and asks almost nothing of you. For the price, it is hard to beat in 2026.
