The Eureka NEU280 looks like a modest upright, and that is exactly its point. It is light, simple and dependable, with a bagless design that keeps the weekly clean quick and cheap. With over 18,000 reviews behind it, this is one of the most proven budget uprights you can buy.
At a glance
- PowerSpeed lightweight upright that is easy to push and carry
- Bagless with an easy-empty dust cup – no bags, no ongoing cost
- Strong performance on carpets, rugs and hard floors for the price
- Accessories for crevices, dusting brush and upholstery included
- Washable filter keeps maintenance to minutes
- An enormous review base – the machine has been refined for years
What stands out
The track record is the headline. When a vacuum has 18,000 reviews and keeps selling, it means it lives up to its promise in real homes. The NEU280 does not try to be clever – it vacuums, it is light, and it does not break. That combination is rarer than it should be.
It is genuinely lightweight for an upright, which matters when you carry it between floors or up stairs. The suction holds up on everyday carpet, and the floor adjustment handles the switch from rug to bare floor without thought.
Things to weigh
- Corded, so you will move between outlets in larger homes.
- No HEPA-bag sealing; heavy-allergy users should consider a bagged model.
- Features are basic – buy it for cleaning, not for gadgets.
Who is this for
Anyone who wants no-fuss upright cleaning on a modest budget – first homes, rentals, students, or as a very reliable backup vacuum. If the last vacuum you owned was pricier but not better, this is the correction.
Final verdict
The Eureka NEU280 is a decades-proven formula: light, bagless and cheap to run. It will not wow you with features, but it will quietly do the cleaning for years. At this price, that is the whole point.
